Eli Roth just admitted to using some generative AI in his new movie Ice Cream Man. I'll be skipping this one on principle.

#Vigilante (1982)

Robert Forster stars in this old school urban revenge flick by William Lustig. After his wife is assaulted and his son is murdered, the judge doesn't do shit and he has to spend a moment in prison because he's rightfully pissed the fuck off about it. With the help of Fred Williamson and some other pissed off residents, he does what we all would do in this situation. He becomes a... VIGILANTE!

Forster often plays it real casual, and I've always liked him for that. Fred "The Hammer" Williamson is always cool, even when he does his fake kung fu moves. Twenty years ago when I was just getting into exploitation movies, I would have eaten this stuff up. It already felt like the type of movie they didn't make anymore, but now? It seems like a golden cinematic era that's lifetimes ago.

I love the feel of these older crime movies because the grit doesn't feel fake. They didn't have huge budgets to give a movie the polished dirty feel. No, they were just authentically raw, and it shines through. This is the heyday of exploitation from one of its pioneers.

#Spiderman #BrandNewDay (2026)

I'll try to be vague and not spoil anything. It's 5 years after the last movie and Peter is all alone. No friends, but the city loves him. We jump right into the main plot where Peter has to figure out this possession nonsense, check in on his old friends, and figure out why he's going through changes. That's about all I'm going to say on that.

If you've seen the trailers, nothing in this movie will really suprise you. If you've heard some theories about this or that, they're probably true. Marvel is notoriously horrible at keeping secrets, and thus there are no real plot twists in this movie.

That doesn't mean it's bad. I enjoyed it. It delivers.

โ€ข Jon Bernthal has plenty of screentime, and his character isn't butchered. He doesn't drop any F-bombs, but he tries. He's definitely a highlight.

โ€ข The Hulk isn't a major role, but he has important scenes. Mark Ruffalo is a horrendous twat in real life, but fortunately, his role in the movie is decent. We get the real Hulk and not some watered-down friendly version.

โ€ข "Black Widow" as she's called is pretty minor, but I like Florence Pugh way more than Scarlett's super dull character.

โ€ข Aside from Scorpion, all those other villains you see in the trailer are only there for like 5 seconds. They're all C-list characters anyway, so fuck 'em.

โ€ข Zendaya has a decent role that doesn't undermine the last movie. I'm also very happy that they didn't give that stupid asshole Ned more screentime. He may play a "smart" character, but he's sooooo dumb. I hate him.

The movie has heart. It will pull your heart strings a little, it doesn't feel over-stuffed, and it feels like Marvel in a good way. I'm not sure what the hell the end credits scene is setting up, but we'll find out.

I'm going to see #Spiderman today. This movie made almost a billion dollars on its opening weekend. I've been pretty successful at avoiding spoilers. Whenever I see a Spider-Man post, I scroll past it as fast as possible, because people are stupid fucking assholes.

I've been teasing a new feature for a while now, so I figure I'll give you regulars a crack at the beta version.

Explaining too much of it now will ruin the fun, so I'll let you wing it for now.

I was watching an episode of It's Always Sunny and I spotted the director of #Obsession.

I was like, "That albino looking mf looks like Curry Barker". And it was.

@Box_a_Hair, I presume you deleted Lee Cronin's The Mummy. That's the correct title so delete the other one. Fight me. And sorry that you couldn't finish it, worse than Evil Dead Rise then?

I'm sorry @Box_a_Hair but I still can't get with the name Junk Epics. Trash Epics had a so much better ring to it. Is there no way of ever getting it back?

I can't believe #Schwarzenegger is 79 now. I've been watching his movies my whole life. T2 is still the greatest movie ever, and this guy recently announced that he's working out to get in shape for Commando 2, Predator, and Conan 3. I hope we get at least one of these movies.
