Set 4 years after the last movie, our protagonist is traumatized after escaping and killing Ethan Hawke's villain known as The Grabber. He's in high school looking out for his sister and trying to protect her from nerds when she gets the spontaneous idea to sign them up as youth camp counselors. They head to the camp in the midst of a blizzard and find themselves stuck there for a while. The place has a backstory connected with them and a mystery unfolds, involving the return of the now undead Grabber.

The story involves a lot of dream mechanics and becomes strongly reminiscent of Nightmare on Elm Street. Our killer is a sadist like Freddy who targets kids, so the parallels are all there. Our main guy from the first movie is a whiny bitch this time around, always miserable and throwing himself pity parties, so the real protagonist is now his younger sister, who goes on an adventure through her dreams to further the plot.

Ethan Hawke obviously enjoys the role, though it could have been played by anybody this time around due to heavy makeup and minimal screen time, so kudos to him for diving in again. The snowy setting is a unique difference, and the dreams have a grainy film look to them with some snuff-like qualities. It's rated R, though most of the violence is in flashbacks or dreams, and I may be wrong, but I think the bodycount here is zero.

I can't point out much that's actually wrong with the movie, but I'm still not entirely wowed by it. It seems primed for more sequels since the villain is pretty iconic. They sell his masks as Walmart, and when you have that kind of marketability, you don't want to waste it.

A group of people have to spend the night in a ghost town. Little do they know that this ghost town is haunted by a ghost.

As a prequel to Wes Craven's film of the same name, this movie makes no sense. We're in Texas instead of California, and a majority of our cast is old people and retards instead of fresh-faced teens. I specifically noticed that one old fart from Twin Peaks who when Cooper got shot and needed help, he moved real slow and confused and would wink at Cooper like he was doing him a huge favor. Fuck that guy, and think of it less as a spoiler and more as incentive to watch this movie knowing that he dies early.

What's funny about this movie is that it seems to follow the basic premise of someone hears a noise, goes to investigate, and dies. Over and over again. Honestly, the atmosphere and setting are pretty good, reminding me of one of my favorite slashers Madman from the year after. Beyond the cool foggy ghost town at night aesthetic and a clear influence by Carpenter's The Fog, this movie is pretty boring.

By the end, you shouldn't care if I spoil it for you: The killer is literally some invisible ghost wielding a scythe. The storyteller guy arrives on a horse and blasts at this nothingness until it is dead and drops its weapon, and the movie is over. So Ghostface was quite literally a ghost, but he had no face. When it comes to movies called Scream, there's a reason this one is forgotten. It has a 2.8 on IMDb, and it deserves every bit of it.

Another Jean Rollin vampire flick. Did he make any other types of movies? Doesn't matter, because he was good at it.

After awakening a repressed memory, a man searches for the photographer of a castle that will lead him to the vampire within it.

My feelings on this one are a little mixed. The backstory is good in a weird artsy foreigner way, but it's a bit preposterous when you spell it out. I got lost in a castle a woman slept next to me, and my life has never been the same since!

Okay, dude. I'll admit I'd get infatuated with hot girl, too, if she did something mundane like touch my leg or tap me on the shoulder, but was this lady all that great? She had short hair, for starters. The other vampires were smokin', though.

The movie did have some good vampire imagery. I figure all the Rollin vampire movies are possibly connected, because they're all in France and they all seem to use that same beach. Vampires love the beach, I tell you hwat.

Okay movie. Not my favorite of his thus far, but certainly not bad.

πŸŽƒOctober Challenge 2025πŸŽƒ

image

You all know the drill but for any newbies, here are the rules:

> At least 31 horror films must be watched during the month of October. 16 of these must be FTVs (first time viewings).
> You get 1 "point" per movie watched.
> Runtime is 60 mins minimum.
> Kiddy-friendly "Halloween themed" movies will be permitted as long as there is some element of horror or spooky fun, i.e. A Nightmare Before Christmas, Goosebumps, The Addams Family, etc.
> If unsure on whether a movie is "horror" or not, please refer to the usual suspects: IMDb, Wiki, Letterboxd, etc.
> Documentaries and TV shows will not be accepted, however mockumentaries will be.
> The challenge will begin at 00:00 hours on October 1st in your time zone.

I would say use the shout box for discussions, but there ain't one.

#HalloweenAftermath 2025

This is an ambitious fan film with high production values set between Kills and Ends. Running at 2 hours and 15 minutes, this might seem excessive, and it is.

I hate to say it for all the hard work they put into it, but this movie is boring. It could be an hour shorter and it might still be too long. The pacing is a real problem as the dialogue scenes go on for too long and aren't interesting. The setting is good and reminiscent of Haddonfield, and I think some scenes are actually filmed in familiar locations. There are a few easter eggs, but they feel pretty forced. How many times do I have to hear "Don't Fear the Reaper" in a Halloween fan film? After appearing in 3 of the movies, enough is enough. The thorn constellation was okay, though.

They try to milk our sympathy gland too hard for all these mediocre characters. Myers is okay for the most part, but there are moments when he looks awkward and not appropriately shaped and he's got young person skin for being an old man.

I really wanted to like the movie, but it'll make all the haters appreciate Ends more. As far as fan films go, I much prefer Halloween: Inferno, an alternate reality version of Kills. That movie was dope.

Happy Charlie Kirk Day

A little over a month ago, Charlie Kirk was murdered by a radicalized leftist lunatic. I was busy working on this site when Der called me up and gave me the news. I didn't know what to think. I thought Charlie was great. I loved the way he pwned ignorant indoctrinated college liberals with common sense and mere facts, and I loved scrolling Facebook and coming across his videos in my feed. I think he was the first person I started following on X since the new administration kicked in at the start of the year and I got excited about twitter X again after 4 years of sleepy Joe bumbling around like Mr. Magoo. Charlie Kirk had strong morals and he believed in doing the right thing.

I couldn't talk about it when it happened because TE was in shambles, but his death hit me hard. I'll even go as far as saying it's the most impactful death of my lifetime. I could barely keep it together at home or at work. I was thinking about it 24/7 for almost 2 weeks, and every time I wasn't distracted enough by some menial task, I would find myself crying about it. Crying about how this family man who only every preached tolerance and tried to reason with the misguided youths was gunned down by another violent left-winged maniac who didn't know anything about the man or the cause he was so adamant about ending.

But there was a light at the end of the tunnel. We'd seen so many disgusting people celebrating his death, but we'd seen so many more people coming together because of him and everything he stood for. Not just in the states, but all over the world. London, Australia, Spain, South Korea... it opened so many people's eyes to what was happening in our country, and it caused so many people to leave the party of violence and finally begin to question all the bullshit the media has been spinning their way. People were going to church in record numbers. TPUSA grew 3 times larger than Charlie ever thought it would. It's awful that it took his death to wake people up, but I'm sure he would have loved knowing the reaction it caused, and how he affected so many people's lives for the better.

Charlie Kirk was awesome.

Sorry guys being absent so long. Just got released from the hospital. Was in since 9/28th. Watched a lot of films but I usually list a film directly after I watch it. There's really isn't anything to do since you're bed ridden. I don't even know if I could remember all of em. Best FTV would probably be The Black Phone.
