Terminator IS horror

I had a lengthy discussion with Grok about it. I was able to dispute all of their arguments against it. I mentioned how it checks all the slasher boxes, it has a bleak and haunting ending, and that movies are allowed to be multiple genres. "Weapons" can be labeled "horror comedy" without any comedic elements, "Terminator 3" is NOT a comedy despite being loaded with stupid comic relief moments, and "Aliens" is "horror" despite also being more "action/sci-fi" while Terminator isn't horror at all, despite being more horror than Aliens.

Their main argument is that it wasn't marketed as horror when it came out (despite clearly being influenced by horror), and that if it were to come out today, it would definitely be considered horror.

Fuck all of you. Terminator is a horror film. Go fuck yourselves in your stupid fucking asses.

NEW WEBSITE COMING SOON

Since my webhost is refusing to fix the issue on here, Trash Epics is going stagnant. A few months back, however, I began working on a new website. When I started making TE, I was winging it with little to no guidance on how to do it properly. It was a decent effort, and I did learn a lot, but people's interests change, and the old forum way has turned away more people than its retained. In my recent endeavors, I've had better guidance on what works and what doesn't, and how to structure things better and more efficiently. Fixing TE would require me to destroy it and completely rebuild it, so I'll skip the first step and start fresh.


What will the new website be? It's the same idea of movie talk and shooting the shit, but a bit more simplified and streamlined. Not explicitly trash oriented, but definitely welcoming of it. There will still be posts, comments, and a film database, but with tweaks.

Say goodbye to message boards. The posting system will include actual working hashtags and mentions, an easier markup, file attachments, reposts and quotes, and minimal reactions (like/dislike). News feeds will be integrated into posts.

No more shoutbox. The shoutbox basically killed posts, so don't give me any lip. Unless you're gonna give me lip as a post, then by all means, give it to me. Instead of shouts, there will be direct user-to-user chats, allowing for realtime video and audio calls.

We're still keeping the Film database. Importing will be better and automate the artwork process more. IMDb loves to throw a wrench into my system, so it'll never be perfect, but it will be better. No more sub-ratings, since nobody cares to rate beyond the star system, and it'll be out of 10 stars instead of 5, since people still love sucking IMDb's dick even after they betrayed us nearly a decade ago.

User registration will be easier. Email and password only, with customization upon login. Users will have a follower/following system with blocked users, which integrates into posting and messaging.

Arcade games will still be included, and coded better. Casino/turn-based games will be better, too. Horoscopes (albeit stupid) are also still included and more automated, and they wont be written by my dumbass.


I didn't want to announce this until I was further along in it, but since the webhost is forcing my hand, I'm trying to work a little faster to get it out in time for October. If you want things done better than on this dump, tell me your specifics suggestions now while I'm in testing mode.

Interesting Youtube Channel

This guy creates pseudo-live radio broadcasts, reporting on various imaginary unfolding apocalypses. He has tons of them on this channel. His voice is pretty boring, but the scenarios he creates show a lot of work. I'm trying to decide if I like the channel or not. I'm not sure, but I'm giving it a shot! Maybe some others here would like to do so too.

I Know What You Did Last Summer (2025)

A pleasant surprise. It respects the original film, glosses over the second one, and brings back Freddie Prinze Jr. for a decent size role, Jennifer Love Hewitt for a slightly smaller-sized role (despite she herself being slightly larger), and even gives us a Sarah Michelle Gellar cameo. And then Brandi. Yeah, I forgot she existed, too.

We have a new batch of young adults who do something iffy on July 4th, then face a familiar killer in the same old town of Southport, North Carolina. Law enforcement try to hide the '97 murders to keep tourism up, so our protagonists have to do some digging to find any hope for their predicament, which leads to our old-school characters' involvements.

The new group is okay. They've got hot bodies and dress in skimpy attire, so I love them for that. The kills are okay, and the story is engaging enough, and I obviously can't put out any spoilers, but there was a good twist that really makes the movie.

If you were into the original at all, give this new one a watch.

Superman (2025)

I never cared much for Superman. I don't find invincible characters intriguing at all, but fortunately, this movie changes that formula. It opens with Superman crashing into Antarctica after getting his ass handed to him. Already, we establish that he is vulnerable, and not just to kryptonite or Snyder fanboys.

Honestly, I'm not sure I would have committed to seeing this movie if it weren't for all the haters trying to bash it. Henry Cavill was a good fit for the Man of Steel, but god damn... he wasn't the be-all-end-all of the character. Snyder's movies were okay, but I still mostly hate him as a director for trying so hard to be edgy and "cool". So instead, we're given a more regular take on the character, with a splash of Gunn's goofiness and more vivid color palette. So yeah, I saw this movie to spite the haters, and it seems like this movie is kicking ass in the box office so far. $200+ million on its opening weekend is pretty fantastic.

In this new DC universe, Superman is already established, so we don't need to go through his origin story again. He's been wearing the big red underpants for 3 or 4 years already, Lois is already aware of his alter ego, and Lex Luthor has already devoted his entire being to dismantling his legacy.

Corenswet does a great job. All those goofy stills you saw on the internet trying to bash him weren't an issue at all. He epitomized the character, and everybody seemed to be a good fit for their respective roles. I don't really have any beef with this movie. It was a lot of fun. However, I can't for the life of me understand why anyone would want to live in Metropolis when it's always getting destroyed.

Peacemaker season 2, Supergirl, and Lanterns are next in line. Count me in.

2025 Black & White Challenge

Sorry. I know his highness has decided there is to be a break from challenges this month, but it was the plan at some point for Zed to do this one, which I noticed he had no interest in. Personally, I've been looking forward to a challenge that doesn't sound totally lame ever since March ended. So, fuck the babbling retard and the cocksucker. The black and white challenge has returned!

The Running Man



It's Edgar Wright, so it has potential. It's got a similar dystopian vibe, Josh Brolin as an asshole, and there looks to be plenty of action.

The plot is similiar to a shitty John Cena movie I saw recently called Jackpot, where Akwafina has to survive to get a lot of money. No doubt this will be better than that stupid movie.

They also boast "From the novel by Stephen King". Pretty sure Richard Bachman wrote that one. 😉
