Beatles. They were basically the sound of the 60s. These guys changed the course of music forever. They pushed boundaries, experimented with all kinds of different sounds, and they even went on to have successful solo careers.

The Stones are great too, but they're also more mainstream in their appeal. Like jan said. Weird is good.

Call me an arthouse weirdo, but I pick Radiohead - In Rainbows. Real easy to relax to.

It is insane. I can't believe it's been almost 30 years, but they definitely quit on a high note. No filler albums. No duds. Perfect discography. Not every band knows when to quit.

Don't diss the 60s. That decade gave us Aftermath, which has arguably their most awesome song ever: Paint it Black. But if you're a stickler and push me into choosing between the UK and US version, then I'll just skip over to Sticky Fingers instead. Arguably their most Stones sounding album.

Audioslave was something special. Heavy, melodic, haunting, and funky at the same time. I know we're supposed to praise the rawness of Soundgarden, but I think I prefer the refined sound of Audioslave. Either way, Audioslave all the way.

Honestly, I'd give it an 8. You're getting shit for being mainstream but those are classics for a reason.
