A joke reminding me of Cannibal Holocaust's ending.
We have a tear-off Calendar with at the back of each page jokes, sayings, information about celebrations, traditions etc. When the 11th November started tearing of the 10th November page there was this joke on the back side
Translated from Dutch language
A Cannibal once asked an army officer who was eating the enormous amount of human flesh of the victims of the wars.
The officer explained that white people did not eat human flesh.
The cannibal shouted: What? You are really barbaric! You kill people just like that without any purpose!
Next that it reminded me of the famous last words spoken in Cannibal Holocaust, it also made me remember how power hungry and greedy so-called civilised people can be.

American Horror Story: 1984
I'm not sure if anyone here has seen any of the AHS seasons, but I am a huge fan of this show! Most seasons are really good, my least favorite would have to be Roanoke. Anyways, whenever they announced that season 9 was going to be an 80's slasher theme I was totally excited! 80's slasher movies are one of my favorites!
@Pick & I were able to watch the first episode on Thursday and I was really impressed. The acting was cute & cheesy like a normal 80's slasher. I think they have a pretty good cast this season, although I do miss Sarah Paulson & Evan Peters, but I totally understand why they both needed to take a break.
I am looking forward to see how the rest of the season goes. A lot of people are saying they get the Friday the 13th vibes, and I see it too, but whenever I first saw the trailer I got Sleepaway Camp vibes! So I am excited to see what twists this season will have!
Any thoughts? Anyone else love this show as much as I do? I'd love to hear!

Do you have an agenda?
Interpret this as question as you will. You can tell that the media has a political agenda in almost anything they say or do. You know Hollywood has an agenda based on representing minorities or Oscar-baits or whatever the fuck there is inbetween. Everyone has an agenda, so to keep things phrased more simply... What are you working on?
We're in the midst of the holiday season, so everyone is probably busy working. I know I am, because I work at a dollar store with all kinds of Thanksgiving and Christmas merchandise to push, and I also work at a movie theater, which means I have to cater to that Christmas rush, which in this day and age means only one thing. Star Wars. This year, we have the final Star Wars film of the ongoing saga coming out. Episode IX, which is sure to draw in huge crowds, even if the last movie sucked balls. Me, on the other hand? I'm moderately interested, mostly because of Lando's triumphant return, but the holiday season is otherwise annoying as fuck for a guy like me. I have to deal with obnoxious crowds with too much money to spend, and even if my workplace can allow tips, it's much more convenientl for me to skip that jargon just so I can I wade through the crowds.
But back to the point at hand... I've drank a fair amount of whiskey, so I'm in the mood to be truthful as fuck. What are you working on, in YOUR life?
I would love to hear all of your ramblings, so I'll begin with mine. I'm still doing online computer classes. My teachers range from cool to dumb-as-fuck, but I'm still trying to finish some coding classes for C, C++, and C#, which I'll probably never use. Trash Epics only ever deals in web-based languages, but @der assures me that this is a stepping stone prerequisite for bettering myself, and if the financial aid has proven anything, it's that rent is due, and I'll take any help I can get.
Of course, I'm always focused on the future of TE, and what TE means topeople ME. And that's trash! I always want to innovate, so I'm still focused on new skins, like Junkipedia, and perhaps Dumblr and finishing the Farcebook and making them more prominently featured on the site. These sites make themselves out to be heroic pioneers in the industry, but if a dumb fuck like me can immitate them in days time, then who are they fooling? The goal with these skins will always be to open our appeal, but in a greedier sense, it will be to help my portfolio so I can eventually make bank due to TE's efforts. After all, if I make bank, I can start making Trash Epics. Fo' rizzle.
Beyond that, I'm also trying to work on my writing. I wrote a novel and a half, and while one of those books has received "okay" reviews by it's entire 3 readers, I'm quite passionate about writing more, so I waste entirely too much time on plotting/writing those stories. I feel I need to allocate more time into watching stuff, but life is a difficult balance of wants and needs.
Besides writing and coding, my only other goal in life is to get a haircut. I guess I'm a simple bastard in this way.
So please feel free to ramble on what your objectives are in life. Don't make me the asshole who only goes on to ramble on what his goals are. Tell us about your goals and endeavors as of late!

2019 October Horror Challenge Excel Spreadsheet
https://www.asuswebstorage.com/navigate/a/#/s/32CB1EA9049D471EBCF74B9A514DC2D44
This year I included movies from another challenge at DVD Talk, as I wanted to get a larger sampling. They have additional set challenges, so some movies may be over-represented as compared to one with no additional challenges, as is the case here.
You can view it online (I think) if you want, but I would just download (100% virus free, but feel free to scan with your antivirus if desired) as it is set up so you can add info (such as ratings, date seen and medium first viewed in).
Please be aware that each year the file will be updated, so if saving for personal use, make sure to rename it, or it will get written over if you save any in the future.
Feel free to modify it whatever you want.
Well aware that some of the movie related info is incomplete, as I decided to add stuff to it and delete other stuff from. All the links to the IMDB pages are active, however. Everything will be filled in before next year. IMDB ratings may fluctuate, especially with those movies with low vote totals.
I also have it set up to show what percentage of the movies listed you have seen, based off of ratings. I'm at a whopping 14.69%.
I'm thinking about adding directors. And I would also like to have the sub-genre set up as well (vampire, shapeshifter, haunted house, demonic, slasher, etc.), but I am unfamiliar with a lot of the movies on this list. If someone would like to tackle that, it would be greatly appreciated.
If interested, just leave a note here on this thread and we can conversate about it. No big hurry, as I wouldn't need it until next October. Full credit will be given.
So aside from directors (maybe) and sub genre, anything else you would like to see? Perhaps an "Own" column to designate which films you own in what medium? Note: It takes about two weeks to get the spreadsheet completed, so I'm not going to add too much more of things I would need to fill out.
Anyway, there you go. Between the two sites, there were 2674 different movies watched, 6595 total watched, and time spent was 10,153.22 hours, which translates into 1.2 years.

The Strange Thing About the Johnsons (Ari Aster short)
Early short film from Ari Aster, who would go on to direct Hereditary and Midsommar. It's a pretty fucked up tale of sexual abuse, but not like you've seen it before.

What movies did you watch or buy this week? (11-11)
A few days late but I did manage to watch and buy a few movies recently.
Slender Man (2017)
The Dark (2018)
Private School (1983) Blu-ray (not a horror movie)
Nightmare Beach (1987) Blu-ray
And I just ordered Blu-rays of Berserker and Watch Me When I Kill.

Movie Franchises that Shouldn't Exist
For me, the ultimate is "The Amityville Horror' movie series. There is really no reason for this movie to have any sequels and/or spinoffs, let alone close to twenty.
What other movie franchises exist that probably shouldn't?

My top 10 after the horror challenge
I know I didn't officially participate in the October challenge on TE. I organized one for the Dutch speaking horror fans which started earlier (late September) and went on longer (until November 10th) than the usual. It gave more people the opportunity to reach the 31 goal. The winner eventually watched 116 movies. 10 from the 18 participants reached the end goal. I was 4th with 85 viewings I didn't really kept track exactly of the amount of FTV and RW but I guess 90% were FTV.
From the FTV's I derived this top 10 in no particular order:
The Human Centipede (2009)
Don't realy understand the turkey average on imdb. It wasn't that shocking but I found it a well executed 'fresh' idea. I also saw the second movie. Yeah that bad guy was a sleazy one but it had not the tension or the surprises from the first movie. It was paste copy, rinse and repeat just more gory and less interesting in the villain or victim department.
Beaks: The Movie (1987) aka Birds of Prey
You could call it the Mexican version of Hitchcock's The Birds. Beaks has not much character development and looks like a collection of scenes of people attacked by birds (many characters you don't see again after the attack). the acting is rather poor but the many bird attacks and a bit of gore make it a fun ride.
Demon Seed (1977)
At many points people wondered what would happen if computers actually would become so smart that they could make their own decisions and eventually disobey their human creators? I think Demon Seed might answer that question partly. It was a great movie where a computer terrorizes a women. He eventually wants to get her pregnant. Sounds sick yeah it is and it worked well for me. Reminded me also of The Entity which came out years later.
Lady in Cage (1964)
Another movie that is still a hot topic. What if some stranger is really in need. Would you rush to help or ignore it. What if a group of people see someone drowning. Would you jump in the water or look at the others hoping one of them does it? That's what this movie is about. Olivia de havilland as the handicapped woman is stuck in her elevator. Her cries for help only seem to attract low lives and thieves. Of course that leads to internal conflicts between the 'bad' guys as well.
Men behind the Sun (1988)
If you think movies like a Serbian movie or Human Centipede are sick, this Hong Kong flick actually show what it would be like to live in a concentration camp during war and basically being used as a lab rat. The graphic violence is pretty explicit not for the faint hearted.
Trauma (2017)
There is many movies with this title. It's a Chilean rape revenge movie which is pretty brutal. However it does quite a good job of explaining the psyche of the bad guys (why and how did they become so cruel) throughout the movie by means of flashbacks. The 4 female victims also have their fair share of character development and the introduction before the terror begins isn't overly long. So far the best movie I have seen in this genre. Doesn't shy away from female nudity at all (guess the metoo brigade didn't yet arrive there). The clichΓΒ©s are present but minimal.
Scream Bloody Murder (1973)
It has the look of a low budget Troma movie. The acting is average and the story is not good. However the troubled kid with an oedipus complex who really cannot stand a his mother being touched by some othe guy but him, does a great job. he goes crazy whenever he finds a new mother figure and sees a man going physical with her. Not really gory but nevertheless interesting as psychological portrait.
Criminally Insane (1975)
Low budget, no good in acting, sleazy characters. Corpulent Ethel can only think of 1 thing: eating. Everyone who stands in her way trying to prevent from stuffing food in her mouth will be sorry for trying! the kills are rather bloody even if it's so obviously red paint. Fun ride and it's only 1 hour long.
Hospital Massacre (1981) aka X-ray
Another slasher that doesn't offer much in story or in the acting department. However it's one that actually stays true to its title. Just sit back and enjoy.
Happy Birthday to me (1981)
Copy paste from what I wrote on another thread
Despite its length it never gets boring. Yeah it's true that there is quite a bit of red herrings being thrown in but wow what a great dark, twisty, macabre, fucked up ending was that! Throw in giallo elements (the black gloves), some great kills (especially the one with the weights ouch) and some real psycho elements and you have a movie that should have been a classic. Why its average is so low, well apparently some people found it too messy in story, well I guess they found it too complex. One of my favorite slashers now!
So what you think? Do you also have an own top 10 of FTV's

Comfort TV show or Movie
Does anyone have a TV show or movie that they turn on because it gives them comfort? Or is that just me? A show that when you turn on, no matter how many time you have watched it, you are instantly focused, and forgetting the issues going on in your life.
As how that has gotten you through your darkest times, and I guess as one might say, a security banket?
My life has been pretty fucked up recently. No matter how hard I try to pick my self up, I end up knocked down. But I tunred on my favorite show, and I started writing down some of my favorite quotes from it, and it calmed me.
For me that show is Buffy the Vampire Slayer. This show has seven seasons, and 144 episodes total, and there isn't one episode I would say I hate. I have watched this show so much, I can literally quote it word for word. But it still helps when I am feeling crazy depressed, or so angry I just want to hit someone. The moment I hear the words "Into every generation..." my heart soars a bit. And I know that no matter what I am going through, I can make it through. Its going to be tough, but I can fight like hell, or I can let the anger, or sadness, or frustration consume me. And though sometimes I want the latter, I always end up fighting my way back to happiness, and that is partly because I turn Buffy on, and let myself breathe, and compare my issues, and figure out how to be better.
So lets hear them. Movies or TV shows you watch because they make you laugh, or cry, or they get you engaged every time so you can forget your lives for a moment, and ultimately feel better.

New Skin: Junkipedia
I'm the kind of guy who likes ripping stuff off, because the more you do it, the more random little shit you'll learn about how it works and how you can benefit from it. So I've been working on a wikipedia skin.
It ain't the best thing in the world, but it's somewhat functional and it encompasses a good chunk of this site's database, including: media, people, users, links, pages, and disambiguations.
Example pages:
https://trashepics.com/wiki/Tom_Atkins
https://trashepics.com/wiki/Vincent_Price
https://trashepics.com/wiki/Halloween
All this stuff can be appropriately marked up and expanded, drawing the specifics like actors and runtimes from the database, so the boring parts are already in place and all you have to do is write some epic drivel for the bulk of the pages.
Clearly, I have to come up with a better mobile/desktop differentiation, but for now... just change that 'd' to an 'm' to see the difference. I also have to fix some of the mobile images, but I'm kinda tired of fucking with this for the time being, so there it is. Opinions?
