From the Terrifier team comes this Strangers-esque slasher where hotel guests are locked inside and cut-off from wi-fi and cell service while masked psychos set out to kill the guests in a live-streamed competition.
The cast is great if you're a horror fan. Jeffrey Combs plays the eccentric psycho running the hotel, donning some attire that reminds me of the fisherman in I Still Know What You Did Last Summer in which he played... an asshole resort manager. What's good about this is that he's finally not being reduced to a bit part, but he's an actual main character.
David Howard Thornton plays yet another Art the Clown knock-off. They cast him for his exaggerated mannerisms an lanky appearance, and that's what you get with his killer. There's also a beefcake and a busty killer, too. I do love boobs.
Our main protagonists are a family here for a getaway. Dad means well, mom is Danielle Harris, the son is a technology addict, and the daughter is a cliche who is surely attactive, but also has a distracting underbite of a jaw. That thing is the real star of the show.
I was also surprised to see Tim Reid who played Mike Hanlon in the 1990s "It". You also have appearances by Daniel Roebuck as a drunken bastard, Felissa Rose as that guy's pissed off wife, Dee Wallace, Tony Todd, Mark Holton who played the fat asshole in Pee-Wee's Big Adventure, and most importantly to me... Danielle Harris! Of course, it's in her contract to die in every movie she's in, but she was there for a chunk of it, and Dave Sheridan was flirting with her in a cringeworthy scene.
You also have:
Terry Alexander from Day of the Dead... apparently?
Tim Curry: Didn't see him in there at all...
Bill Moseley: Also didn't see him anywhere...
Terry Kiser: No idea where. Probably a corpse from the get-go...
What the fuck is up with all these big names I can't see? I was actually paying almost full attention to the movie, too, which I don't normally do.
It's pretty violent, sadistic, a bit overly long, and it has a stupid fucking ending that's so dumb, I LOL'ed. I guess this movie is also similar to Laid to Rest in which the killer live-streamed his kills, and Danielle Harris had a cameo in the sequel to that one. A sequel is in the works called "ST2EAM", which is kinda weird. I'll probably watch it.
