#MortalKombatII (2026)
My theater booted this movie really quick, so I had to wait for streaming. Apparently, the previous movie didn't get the best reception, but I thought it was good albeit flawed. Cole was lame as hell, and I'll never understand why game-based properties like this and Twisted Metal feel the need to shoehorn in new characters when they already have tons of characters already.
So where to start... this movie gives us Shao Kahn as the main villain, and the heroes decide to recruit Johnny Cage as if he's totally necessary. I guess they felt that they owed it to him after killing him off immediately in that POS called Annihilation that we're all trying to forget.
We start the tournament, we have a few "twists", but it's easier for me to describe the good and bad.
PROS:
- Johnny Cage is mildly amusing.
- Kano is great.
- Cole Young dies
CONS:
- Environments look very fake.
- Stupid "stylish" moves that make no sense.
- Predictable as fuck.
- Quan Chi looks really bad.
- Since people get revived, there truly are no stakes.
Verdict? Good for one watch. I'll probably forget it in a week.
