#AmericanYakuza2 (1996)
Part 1 stars Viggo Mortensen as an undercover FBI agent infiltrating the yakuza. I like Viggo, but I was quite indifferent to this movie overall.
Then comes along part 2, sometimes known simply as "Back to Back": a TV movie sequel in name only. They tacked on the "American Yakuza" name to sell it more, but it clearly has nothing to do with the first one. One guy from the first movie is in there, but he's playing a different character.
After irritable ex-cop Bob Malone (same name as Fred Williamson's character in the Black Cobra series) stops a bank robbery, one of the robbers (Bobcat Goldthwait) gets away and winds up at a gangster's restaurant and holds the place hostage. A yakuza guy name Koji is there and winds up obliterating Bobcat and tries to get away to carry on with his shady business, but the cops hold him for questioning.
Bob's daughter Chelsea (Danielle Harris) heads to the station to bail him out and meets Koji. After escaping interrogation, Koji holds Bob and Chelsea at gunpoint to get away, heading back to Bob's place to think of the next step.
Rooker is always great, especially when he's pissed off. What I really liked is that Danielle actually had top-billing and was a main character, looking cute as ever. A solid cast overall and decently entertaining, so I deem it better than the first.
